Study Plan
Article (11): Study System
A- All programs in the Faculty follow the Credit Hours System within the semester framework. Each academic year consists of two main semesters of 16 weeks, including exams. One credit hour equals one lecture hour per week or two hours of lab/tutorial per week. Fractions of teaching hours are not counted.
B- The Faculty Council may approve intensive Summer semesters of up to 8 weeks (including exams), with doubled weekly hours. Students may register for a maximum of 6 credit hours, except in cases such as:
1- Not reaching the maximum study load in regular semesters.
2- Repeating failed courses.
3- Improving grades to raise the CGPA.
4- Progressing to a higher academic level.
5- Completing graduation requirements.
C- The Bachelor’s degree requires 138 credit hours, distributed among general education, faculty requirements, and major requirements.
D- Credit hours align with the national reference framework issued by the Computer Science Sector Committee.
E- The Bachelor’s degree is completed in 3.5 years (8 semesters) plus practical training, inside or outside the Faculty, subject to approval.
F- All students follow a general study plan until the end of the second level. Specialization begins in the third level.
Article (12): Academic Levels
A student’s level is determined by the number of completed credit hours:
- Freshman: less than 20% = under 28 credits.
- Sophomore: 20%–44% = 28 to under 62 credits.
- Junior: 45%–69% = 62 to under 96 credits.
- Senior: 70%–100% = 96 to under 138 credits.
• Students remain Freshman until completing 28 credits.
• Promoted to Sophomore after 28 credits.
• Promoted to Junior after 62 credits.
• Promoted to Senior after 96 credits.
Article (13): Graduation Project
A- Students who complete 70% of the required credits may register for the graduation project.
B- Topics are approved by the academic department, and the project spans two semesters (Fall and Spring).
C- Passing grade is 50%. Marks distribution:
- 40–60% coursework.
- 40–60% final discussion, documents, and applications.
Article (14): Field Training
- Summer training equals 4 hours weekly for 6 weeks. Students must complete at least 60% of credits before training.
- A faculty member supervises and evaluates students according to Faculty Council standards.
- Field training has no credit hours, is not included in GPA, but is mandatory for graduation.
