About the Academy
The establishment of the Sadat Academy for Management Sciences was in accordance with the Presidential Decree No. 127 of 1981, and the Presidential Decree No. 556 of 1982 issuing the executive regulations of the Sadat Academy for Management Sciences, and in accordance with Article (19) of the executive regulations, the Academy shall establish two specialized scientific institutes that organize specialized studies in the fields of administrative development. The first shall be at the bachelor’s degree level and shall be called “Faculty of Management”, and the second institute shall specialize in postgraduate studies and shall be called “National Institute for Higher Administration”. The establishment of the Department of Computer and Information Systems, Article No. 1 of the executive regulations, was the real beginning of teaching computer and information systems specializations at the Academy, whether at the bachelor’s or postgraduate level, starting from the academic year 1981-1982, which made the Academy a pioneer among all Egyptian universities and years before the emergence of computer colleges. In light of the growing numbers of MIS and BIS majors at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, accompanied by a significant increase in the number of faculty members and their assistants, exceeding 68 faculty members and assistants. In light of the diverse expertise and sub-specializations within the academic department, and in light of keeping pace with labor market requirements, the success of local and international experiences, and the growing role of information technology, it was imperative for Sadat Academy to launch a strategy to open a number of colleges instead of the current status of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and its branches in the governorates.
The Academy submitted a request to establish the Faculty of Computers and Information and prepare its study regulations starting in the 2013/2014 academic year, guided by several regulations of similar computer science colleges at the time. This was also a result of the circulation of the regulations and their specializations over the previous years, until the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 2020, and the subsequent approval and support of the Computer Science Sector Committee, approving the commencement of the college's programs included in the regulations starting in the 2020/2021 academic year. These specializations include: Computer Science, Information Systems, and Software Engineering.
